You may have read earlier today that Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the brilliant new action game from Capcom, has already sold more than a million copies.
The publisher announced the news via social feeds, but it also put out an official press release on the data, and it's there where you'll find an interesting quote from the company.
This is something Capcom has described before, but it's reiterated its aim to bring back some of its series that aren't currently in the limelight, and it's gotten fans all excited.
After going over the sales milestone for Way of the Sword, the publisher lays out part of its current mission:
"In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on re-activating IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently. The company is working to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content, including this title."
It's the "re-activating IPs that haven't had a new title launch recently" part that's caught people's attention.
Basically, if it wasn't clear from Capcom reviving Onimusha (and doing the same with Mega Man: Dual Override in 2027), the company is turning its attention to some of its franchises that have been dormant for a while.
It's possible this plan is partly why Okami is getting a sequel, to give another example.
