Pokemon GO has revealed a new event called the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek, which will see the addition of Bramblin to the game. Since the game's launch in 2016, Pokemon GO has used the month of October as an excuse to add new Ghost-type Pokemon, or to make some older ones easier to encounter. The franchise has a number of beloved Ghost-type Pokemon, and the Halloween season is the perfect excuse to put a spotlight on them in the game.
The Twilight Trails season of Pokemon GO began earlier in September, and will run through December 1. Ahead of launch, the game's developers revealed that Mega Chandelure will be added at some point before the season comes to an end on December 1. Since Mega Chandelure is a Ghost-type Pokemon, it's likely that a Raid Day event will take place sometime in October. Mega Chandelure is one of several new Mega Evolutions that were added to the franchise last year in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Pokemon GO's Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event will begin on Tuesday, October 13 at 10 AM, and will run through Monday, October 19 at 8 PM local time. One of the event's highlights will be the addition of Bramblin, a Grass/Ghost-type Pokemon. Unfortunately, Bramblin will not appear in the wild during the event. Players will only be able to find the new Pokemon by completing GO Pass tasks, or through Incense encounters. Bramblin has a special evolutionary requirement in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but Scopely Explore has not yet revealed how players will be able to get Brambleghast in Pokemon GO.
Mega Evolutions have seen a change in Pokemon GO, with the addition of Super Max Levels. Starting with the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event, players will be able to raise Mega Manectric up to Super Max Level, allowing it to use Discharge+ as a Charged Attack. In Trainer Battles, Discharge+ will only have a power of 50, which isn't that strong. However, that power level increases to 150 when Discharge+ is used in Raid Battles. Electrike will appear in the wild during the event, and players will have an increased chance of encountering its Shiny version. For those that have yet to Mega Evolve Manectric, the GO Pass Deluxe will include Manectric Mega Energy as a reward.

Timed Research will be available during the event, which players will have to complete before the event comes to an end on October 19. Finishing the Timed Research will get players 16,800 XP, as well as an encounter with a costumed Pikachu wearing a marathon visor. This is one of at least two opportunities players will have to get a costumed Pikachu in October, as Pokemon GO will be adding Astronaut Pikachu on October 4.
As Halloween gets closer, it's a safe bet that Pokemon GO will announce more events centered around Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon. The developers have a tendency to treat the holiday as a big deal, usually with the arrival of new costumed Pokemon. Last year's event added Teddiursa and its evolutionary forms wearing witch hats, alongside Noibat and Noivern wearing headbands. It's possible that this year could see something similar, but fans will have to wait and see what gets revealed.
