Not everyone stuck around for State of Play Japan, so you may have missed the reveal of nautical action game CONQ: Crown of No Quarter.
Billed as a “tactical action game”, this is set in the afterlife where you must “fight your way through a brutal melee frenzy, command bone-clad fleets, wield dark curses, and lead hundreds of troops in seamless sea-to-land warfare”.
As the blurb alludes, there’ll be seafaring combat which looks a lot like the kind you find in Assassin’s Creed.
But it sounds like the real appeal here is the blend of real-time action with strategy gameplay, as you’ll need to command your troops while simultaneously dishing out destruction on the battlefield.
It’s an interesting concept but the trailer looks a bit bland and there are tons of these gothic fantasy games lately.
The tactical stuff could set it apart, though.
