Crimson Desert's first DLC expansion has been revealed – it's called Charting the Unknown, and it's out next month.
Shown off during today's PlayStation State of Play, Charting the Unknown's trailer shows that Crimson Desert is still apparently aiming to include as many different game mechanics and features as possible, because base building has now been shown off.
We also see Cliff steering a boat before exploring underwater, even holding onto the back of a massive shark to travel around under the sea. Oh, and we later see a giant enemy robot firing an enormous red laser of mass destruction. There's just a lot going on.
Of course, we can expect more story, too – the trailer's video description notes that "Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane set out to discover their purpose and shape their futures. However, as turmoil unfolds around them, each must fight to forge a path through the trials ahead. Join them on a new adventure and discover what new possibilities await across Pywel."
We already knew that developer Pearl Abyss was shifting its focus to DLC, finally slowing down on its speedy pace of free updates that have been arriving in the massive open world game since its release. In addition, it was previously stated that Pearl Abyss was "targeting a release within this year," so it's comfortably managed that.
Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown releases on October 15, 2026, so there's not long to wait for it. Pre-orders are already open, with pre-order bonuses for the Charter's and Charter's Light Diving Sets available to those who buy early.
New Crimson Desert Enhanced update meant to "improve the narrative flow" actually makes it feel "like a different game," fans say.
