Do we get to own the Sun in the next update?
No Man’s Sky Cosmos update (Version 7.0) is now live on PC and consoles, and you can now own an entire Space Station. This is arguably the largest thing you can own inside the game (a Corvette looks small in comparison), and there are several benefits.
Let’s find out how to own a Space Station and why you should get one for yourself.
If you’re a beginner player, I will advise getting to the point where you’ll have the Anomaly. Claiming a Space Station is an endgame activity (we will find out why), so your focus should be towards clearing the early and mid-game content first.
Once you have your ship, you can use it to visit a Space Station. Every system has one, and there are infinite number of them available. If a Space Station is already owned, you can’t claim it. If it doesn’t have an owner, you can claim it using the terminal.
However, there’s a catch. You can’t just add a Space Station without fulfilling certain requirements. If you check the image above, you’ll notice the requirements. The requirements will vary across stations, and you’ll need many Credits. Once you meet all the requirements, you can then make the Space Station yours.
Is claiming a Space Station absolute necessity? No. You can enjoy all the available content without owning a Space Station. However, there are some cool things you can do if you claim one for yourself.
However, all features of your Space Station, including access to NPCs, will be open to all visitors. Hence, you can’t act petty if you’d like, which is alright, I guess.
