CD Projekt Red is bringing back Dandelion, AKA Jaskier, AKA Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove for The Witcher 4, according to his longtime Polish voice actor Jacek Kopczyński. The informal confirmation of the many-named bard's involvement brings The Witcher 4 to a tally of three returning characters and counting.
In the 19 months since the game's official announcement in December 2024, Dandelion's inclusion in CDPR's next open-world RPG has been a matter of near-universal expectation. The character was repeatedly named among the most logical legacy figures to carry into the new saga, and there had already been vocal fan arguments that The Witcher 4 should keep Dandelion even if his eventual role in Ciri's first solo game proved relatively small.
What little doubt may have remained among fans about Dandelion's involvement in The Witcher 4, Kopczyński dispelled during a recent panel appearance at PSX Extreme Party 2026 in Warsaw on September 5. Speaking with Polish journalist Dawid Muszyński, the actor said he had already recorded some Dandelion lines for The Witcher 4, though only a small amount, according to a Wiedźminlandia recap of the interview. It is unclear whether he shared this tidbit with CDPR's explicit approval, though the informal nature of the talk during which he spilled the beans suggests otherwise.
Kopczyński’s remark does not establish just how substantial Dandelion’s involvement in the upcoming RPG will be. Describing the amount he had recorded for The Witcher 4 as “not much” could mean that the character is limited to a cameo, but it could just as easily mean that the actor’s work is not yet complete. Crucially, the Wiedźminlandia recap does not say whether Kopczyński expects to return to the recording booth. It separately notes that he had not yet recorded his part for The Witcher 3’s Songs of the Past expansion and was still waiting to be invited to the studio, so his limited Witcher 4 recording cannot be framed as work done while he was in the middle of recording the upcoming DLC.

With Ciri already unveiled as the new protagonist and Geralt confirmed to return in The Witcher 4 as well, Dandelion joins the pair as another familiar face now more or less confirmed for the much-anticipated RPG. The beloved bard’s place in the fourth mainline game’s story remains completely open, not least because of his extensive ties to both Geralt and Ciri.
Dandelion’s return would extend a run stretching back to CD Projekt Red’s original Witcher, with the bard having appeared in all three previous mainline games and serving as one of Geralt’s longest-standing companions across the wider franchise. The Witcher 3 also frames much of its character and quest narration through Dandelion’s perspective, while his history with Geralt reaches back well beyond the games. None of that establishes what role he will play alongside Ciri this time around, and with CD Projekt Red currently targeting a 2028 release for The Witcher 4, the extent of Kopczyński’s involvement remains one of many cast details the studio has yet to formally clarify.
