If you're anything like me, you'll have been dying to know what's going on over at Media Molecule since it wound down active development on Dreams.
Well, a new report from MP1st claims to know what it's making, and when it's coming.
According to the report, which cites "sources familiar with the project", Media Molecule's next game will be both announced and released in 2027.
The game will be a totally new direction for the studio, too; apparently, the game is a "social simulation", inspired by the likes of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon.
MP1st says it is not a game-as-a-service (GaaS) title.
The outlet also cautions that, due to the tumultuous nature of game development, Media Molecule's new title may still be pushed back, but that it'll be revealed in 2027 "at the very least."
In theory, an Animal Crossing-esque sim game from Media Molecule sounds like a great fit. I can easily picture a game like that, leaning into the studio's whimsical presentation and sense of humour.
It would also tally with previous reporting that the game will have open world aspects.
