You can't access him across multiple game modes, and all that's left in his stead is an empty silhouette. Which begs the question: where is Loki in Marvel Rivals, what's happened to him, and will he return?

While Loki is still available to use in Competitive (and social hubs), you won't be able to hop into a casual game with Loki because, if you check the character selection screen, he's completely disappeared!
Loki's missing, and it's definitely not a bug, since this seems to be related to Marvel Rivals Season 10. Season 10 of Marvel Rivals is introducing Gorr the God Butcher, and considering Gorr's namesake, it's likely that Loki has fled the scene to evade the wrath of this monstrous god killer.
Gorr is responsible for countless deaths in the Marvel comics, and with NetEase providing their own multiverse spin on these iconic characters, the lore for Season 10 could allude to Gorr killing Loki, or Loki simply hiding from Gorr so that this fate doesn't come to pass.
Because Loki is a popular hero in Marvel Rivals, and you might have already spent countless dollars on his cosmetics, it's unlikely that Loki will stay dead. We expect Loki to return to the roster shortly after Season 10 launches on September 11, 2026, at 4 AM PDT.
It's very likely that this is just a fun stunt from NetEase to tease the arrival of Season 10's debut of Gorr, the God Butcher, as a new hero, and it wouldn't be the first time NetEase has teased a hero in-game! Deadpool had similar mischief, and since Loki is the god of it, it's no surprise he's up to no good.
