Netflix's big GTA 6 Extended Look is finally here, giving us an official look at the game we're all pining for, even though we've seen plenty of it already thanks to more leaks that you know what to do with. Thankfully, we did get some more information about the game following the official reveal, such as the claim that Jason and Lucia's relationship isn't actually predetermined.
This is according to IGN, which went on a trip to Rockstar to see gameplay footage that wasn't featured in Netflix's Extended Look. In this list of gameplay details, IGN claims that while Jason and Lucia wish to be in a romantic relationship at the start of the game, your actions throughout the course of the campaign will determine whether that actually happens.
And, it sounds like there are a lot of things that will impact said relationship. GTA 6 will feature a dynamic system that allows you to take control of both Lucia and Jason whenever you please, allowing you to swap seamlessly between the two, even if they're on a job together. However, you can also go out by yourself, and both will leave text messages for the other telling them when they're going to bed or other mundane things. IGN claims ignoring these messages can have a negative impact on the relationship.
As for how to improve the relationship, you will need the pair to explore Leonida together, doing activities that range from shopping to a bit of light robbery. Everything that Jason and Lucia do together will improve how they feel about each other, and Rockstar apparently made sure that there won't be enough bonding time in the main story to adequately shack them up together.
That being said, it also seems as though the romantic aspect of GTA 6 is completely optional, as there are no direct gameplay benefits to being in a relationship or not. Even if they want nothing to do with each other, main missions will still have the two work together, though apparently, their stories will differ depending on their bond.
It's an interesting mechanic, and it does mean that Jason and Lucia really don't have to be in a relationship if you don't want them to be, which kind of does ruin the whole "Bonnie and Clive" type story that many believed would happen. It will also be interesting to see how much impact this has on the game's overarching story, and whether distancing yourself from Jason or Lucia will have hugely negative consequences. That being said, if anyone is mean to Lucia, I will hunt you down myself.
Plenty more details were shown off during the actual Netflix Extended Look though, and if you want a rundown of everything that we spotted, you can find one here.
