The concept of Tailed Beasts was introduced to us in Naruto chapter 1 on September 21, 1999, when Masashi Kishimoto first released this story. Back then, the first Tailed Beast to be introduced to us was the nine-tailed demon fox. Afterwards, the concept of Tailed Beasts was expanded upon tremendously over the next decades. In total, the Naruto series gave us nine Tailed Beasts, as well as the Tailed Beast created by the amalgam of the original beasts — the Ten-Tails. Among all the Tailed Beasts that exist in the world of Naruto, the most important one was, undoubtedly, Kurama, Naruto's Nine-Tails. These two stood together against all adversities and, in the end of the story, saved the ninja world.
Unfortunately, in the Boruto series, Kurama and Naruto parted ways following the use of Baryon Mode against Isshiki Otsutsuki. Now, Naruto Uzumaki needs new powers, and Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto have lined up the perfect Tailed Beast upgrade for him.
In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 55, which was officially released on February 19, 2021, Naruto Uzumaki officially lost Kurama. The basis for this was set in Naruto's battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki in order to prevent Kawaki from falling into his hands. Initially, Naruto and Sasuke tried to fight together against the threat of Isshiki, but both failed to accomplish anything significant. It is at this point that Kurama came up with the idea of using Baryon Mode, which utilized the chakras of both Naruto and Kurama as raw materials to create a new form of energy akin to nuclear fusion. When utilizing this power, Naruto was able to overwhelm Isshiki and eventually pave the way for his defeat, but in the end, Kurama's chakra burned to the point where he could not exist as an entity anymore and officially died.
"Normally, when a Jinchuriki's Biju is extracted, they die. But that doesn't apply to you. The Biju chakra simply vanishes. It might look to others like you're dead, but you're just in a temporary state of shock. Don't worry, you'll wake up soon. The price to pay for Baryon Mode is my life, not yours. I've got to go, but be real careful. You aren't gonna have superhuman strength anymore. So if you overdo it, you'll end up joining me soon. But until that day comes, you be well, Naruto." — Kurama dies, Boruto Chapter #55
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 55 saw the death of Kurama and the parting of the two for the first time since the beginning of the Naruto franchise. This weakened Naruto Uzumaki tremendously, but it also raised other questions. The biggest question that came up after Boruto chapter 55 pertained to the fate of the Tailed Beast chakra inside Naruto. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto Uzumaki received a portion of chakra from all nine Tailed Beasts. Even though Kurama died, Naruto should still have had access to the chakra from the other eight Tailed Beasts. However, so far, he has not tapped into this power yet. This could very well end up becoming his next major upgrade in the Boruto series once he returns in Two Blue Vortex.
Naruto Uzumaki's Tailed Beast chakra has clearly been stripped from him. When Kurama parted ways with Naruto Uzumaki, he told him that he isn't a superhuman any longer, meaning that with him gone, Naruto could no longer use Tailed Beast chakra. Even if Naruto had the chakra of the other Tailed Beasts, which he evidently used in Boruto Chapter 34 in his battle against Delta, he still seems unable to tap into it. This could very well be because Kurama's death shattered his bonds with all the other Tailed Beasts. In other words, upon his return in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Naruto Uzumaki will have to reforge his bond with the remaining Tailed Beasts of the world, and after doing so, he will once again have limitless access to their chakra.
“Naruto has a bit of all your chakras now. So to put it simply, he's like a meeting place for all you guys. If you ever need to talk among yourselves, you can just use the chakra inside of him. What makes this concept even more exciting is the fact that Kurama is once again back in the Naruto world, as was confirmed to us in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 10. His return to the world means that Naruto can once again meet him and even take a portion of his chakra, just as he did with the other Tailed Beast in the Fourth Great Ninja War. With the chakra of all the Tailed Beasts, Naruto can once again regain his powers and reach the pinnacle of the ninja world, where he operated for a very long time previously.
