Although most of the content surrounding Control Resonant has just involved praising the game or showing off its mechanics, some eagle-eyed players have already spotted a few Eager eggs hiding in plain sight.
With more likely to come once everyone has a chance to get their hands on the full release, one classic anime reference is one that is impossible to deny once you've seen it for yourself.
As spotted by players like JessicaBoddy on X, in the distance of the open-world city, players will be able to spot one inconspicuous concrete skyscraper that has a familiar-looking logo above it, which bears a striking resemblance to Nerv's logo from Evangelion.
Although it doesn't have the exact text from the game, the font, layout, and similar letters are undeniably a callback to the classic mech-anime, with the poster also noting that the logo Verconn could be a mix between Nerv and Control. Even if it's a relatively subtle Easter egg, Evangelion is far from the only reference fans have spotted in the game.
Some players ThatsOurWaldo like have also discovered that Remedy hid an Easter egg to David Lynch's Twin Peaks with a theater marquee showing the line "fix your heart or die," which is a line spoken from the series' return in 2017.
Given that Control Resonant's director has publicly stated that the game was deeply inspired by shows like Evangelion, Twin Peaks, and even Attack on Titan, there are likely to be even more references tucked away in some of the harder-to-find aspects of the game, or simply in the style and story offered by the highly acclaimed narrative experience.
Simply watching some of the gameplay clips going viral online makes it readily apparent where some of the inspirations behind Control Resonant's most jaw-dropping areas and gameplay mechanics come from, with underground cities and stunning vistas being just the tip of the iceberg.
