Nintendo has officially revealed the first special edition Switch 2 console, marking the first time the new hardware has received a complete themed redesign since launching.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 was unveiled during Nintendo’s Zelda-focused Direct on September 8. The console will launch on October 29 alongside a matching Pro Controller and carrying case.
While Nintendo has released several Switch 2 bundles since the system debuted, those packages have paired the standard hardware with games rather than introducing a redesigned console. The Zelda edition is the first to feature custom colors and artwork across the system itself.
The limited-edition console replaces the Switch 2’s standard Joy-Con colors with teal controllers covered in Zelda-inspired patterns. Gold accents surround the analog sticks, while the left Joy-Con features a gold Triforce and additional Zelda detailing.
Nintendo has also redesigned the rear of the console with a large gold and gray Triforce pattern. The dock continues the theme with a prominent gold Triforce design covering much of its front.
A matching Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller was announced alongside the system. It combines black, teal, and gold colors with a large Triforce across the face, gold shoulder buttons, and additional Zelda artwork.
Nintendo is also releasing a Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition carrying case and screen protector featuring another Triforce design.
All three products are scheduled to arrive on October 29, 2026. Nintendo has not yet announced pricing for the special edition Switch 2 or its matching accessories.
