Now, the Pokemon TCG is giving fans a first teaser about a new type of card.
A new teaser trailer shown at PokemonXP has officially revealed the brand-new ex Star cards coming to the Pokemon TCG. The teaser shows off multiple new Mega Attack Rare cards coming for the spotlight Pokemon from the game's recent sets, including Mega Greninja ex from Chaos Rising and Mega Zygarde ex from Perfect Order. The conclusion of the trailer shows a brief montage of Entei, Raikou, and Suicune before finishing with the official reveal of the ex Star card type. The teaser trailer does not confirm a specific release date for Pokemon's new ex Star cards, nor does it mention the first set to include the card type.
The new ex Star cards weren't the only big reveal from the Pokemon TCG teaser trailer, showing off multiple new cards. The debut of Mega Lucario Z served as one of the highlights of the trailer for many fans, featuring the powerful Aura Seeker Ability allowing players to search their deck for Supporter cards every turn. The gameplay segments of the trailer also revealed the new Sigilyph ex, which prevents damage to itself from all Mega Pokemon. Previous leaks have suggested that Mega Lucario Z will appear in the Japanese Aura Seeker set in November, though ex Star cards have not been confirmed for the set.

The Pokemon TCG has revealed plenty of exciting new cards coming to the TCG throughout the rest of the year. September will welcome the debut of the highly-anticipated 30th Celebration set, marking the franchise's 30th anniversary with the new Futuristic Rare cards. The TCG will also debut one more core set later in 2026, with Delta Reign set to launch in November and featuring Mega Rayquaza ex as its spotlight Pokemon. The Pokemon Company has not officially revealed any new sets launching in 2027 yet.
2026 has already been a landmark year for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, launching a multitude of major sets. The Pokemon TCG kicked off the year with the massive Ascended Heroes expansion in January, featuring stunning new Special Illustration Rare cards of Pikachu, Mega Gengar, and Mega Dragonite. Pokemon has released three new sets in the months since, welcoming the release of Perfect Order, Chaos Rising, and Pitch Black. Pokemon fans have been given plenty to be excited about throughout the year, with even more on the horizon for the beloved card game.
