A trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance debuted during State of Play on Thursday, showcasing new monsters and story details.
The trailer features Araketa, a Bird Wyvern that soars in packs, and Gundoraja, an Elder Dragon that controls storm clouds.
The video also shows The Boost Bracer, a new piece of equipment that enables new abilities via the Hunter’s Slinger. When activated, the Boost Bracer temporarily enhances the Hunter’s combat capabilities, amplifying the characteristics and strengths of each of the 14 weapon types.
“The story begins with the sudden appearance of the colossal Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung in the Forbidden Lands, leaving the Expedition Team and its members powerless as devastation unfolds around them,” Capcom said.
“The story moves forward several years as the Expedition fortifies their position in preparation for the return of Lao-Shan Lung, including the construction of Madoi Stronghold.
“As time passes, the mist that once shrouded Wyveria’s skies finally clears, revealing the Skybound Eyrie: a new locale floating high above the clouds. This mysterious new region features lush open landscapes, ancient ruins, and never-before-seen endemic life. A vast and unexplored frontier awaits in the sky!”
According to Capcom, familiar characters from Monster Hunter Wilds will return in Ascendance, changed by the years since their encounter with Arkveld. Nata, the young Keeper turned apprentice Hunter, has now grown into a full-fledged member of the Expedition Team.
“As you explore, you’ll investigate ecological disturbances that seem to have been set in motion by Lao-Shan Lung’s arrival. Strange abnormalities in the Forbidden Lands, the sudden expansion of Guardian Monsters’ habitats, and the emergence of Elder Dragons are just a few of the mysteries and discoveries that lie ahead. What lies at the source of these strange phenomena?”
