An Old School RuneScape player has completed a nearly four-year challenge to collect every pet in the game, clocking 6,572 hours of playtime in the process.
Content creator Coxie announced the achievement on October 14, revealing that he had collected all 71 pets on an account created specifically for the challenge.
Coxie began the challenge three years and nine months ago, having already collected every pet on his original account, Malfoy.
This time, however, he wanted to see how quickly he could complete the collection from scratch, starting with a fresh account with no stats, items, or in-game currency.
Coxie imposed several restrictions on himself, including a ban on transferring money or equipment from his other accounts, accepting donations, or borrowing items, but he could use alternate accounts and pay other players with gold earned on his new account to help speed up certain activities.
The challenge was documented through a YouTube series that began in 2023, with Coxie explaining that he wanted to combine the progression of a fresh RuneScape account with the efficiency of a speedrun.
Pets in Old School RuneScape are collectible companions obtained through various activities, including defeating bosses and training skills. Many are rare drops that can require thousands of attempts to obtain.
Nearly four years later, Coxie completed the collection by obtaining his 71st and final pet, Beef, after 565 kills of an early game boss, Brutus.
