First GTA 6 TV Commercial Strips Out Steamy Shower Scenes, but Shows More of Lucia's Fancy Hair Tech

GTA 6 has its first TV commercial, and it's a little different than the launch trailer.

The 90-second GTA 6 advert, which was spotted on NBC Sports, is for the most part the launch trailer Rockstar Games released last week, but the shower smooching scenes have been taken out. All three of them. Luckily, that means some of the other scenes are slightly extended, giving us a few milliseconds of extra footage.

The first GTA 6 commercial aired on NBC Sports, featuring the launch trailer but with some changes:- Cut shower shots, resulting in other shots being a bit longer- Longer plane shot- Longer Jason and Lucia shot- Xbox logo completely removed due to the deal with PlayStation https://t.co/o6qc4dGZab

The slightly stretched launch trailer scenes give us a longer plane shot and a marginally extended shot of Jason and Lucia playing around while leaning on a car — now she almost falls over when Jason nudges her. And look at that hair tech!

Meanwhile, the TV spot doesn't mention Xbox as a playable platform for GTA 6 at all, despite GTA 6 launching on PS5 and both Xbox Series consoles next month. This is further evidence of the extensive partnership between Sony and Rockstar for GTA 6 marketing rights, which has seen official trailers and the extended gameplay look feature gameplay captured from PS5, and messaging that calls PS5 “the best place to play.”

More casual fans who might discover that GTA 6 is coming out at all from an advert on something like live sports might reasonably conclude that PlayStation is the only place to play Rockstar’s open world crime sequel, which is no doubt what Sony's hoping for from its partnership.

Last month, Microsoft stepped in to address a report that claimed GTA 6 preorders were “heavily skewed” toward PS5 over Xbox Series X and S. In a report about recent layoffs and studio reorganization at Xbox, The Verge’s Tom Warren said the PS5’s dominance over GTA 6 preorders was “ringing yet more alarm bells" about Xbox as a platform.
