Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero might very well be the best thing to ever happen to Piccolo. Over the course of one movie, Piccolo became the series' main character, unlocked two massively powerful forms, and inspired Gohan to reclaim his position as the strongest Z-Fighter in the series. Heading into the Black Frieza Saga, Gohan and Piccolo are technically still the series' main characters, which is good, because they're both the strongest they've ever been.
Both Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou confirmed that Piccolo's Power Level now rivals Goku, Vegeta, Broly, and Gohan, making him one of the most powerful fighters in the Dragon Ball multiverse. Piccolo was outclassed by every Super Saiyan by the end of DBZ, but Orange Piccolo is now strong enough to destroy many of the most powerful Saiyans.
Gotenks could have effortlessly obliterated Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z, even in his base form. The power scaling in the Majin Buu simply spiraled out of control, to the point where the only relevant fighters were either Saiyans or one of the many variations of Buu himself. Piccolo didn't fare much better for most of Dragon Ball Super, either, but with his Orange form, there's no zero chance Gotenks could handle him.
Gotenks has fallen off hard in Dragon Ball Super, perhaps more so than any other character. After Piccolo and Gohan, he's the warrior most in need of some kind of major power-up, but the series seems intent on keeping Goten and Trunks as their own characters whenever possible. Now that Orange Piccolo is God Tier, he could one-shoot Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks before he even realized what happened to him.
If they fought during the Universe 6 Saga, Piccolo would have gotten bodied by Cabba. He just was not ready to take on the caliber of fighters present in the Tournament of Destroyers, let alone a Saiyan who could keep up with Super Saiyan Vegeta in his base form. Cabba's potential is frankly absurd, so much so that a large chunk of fans genuinely believe he could defeat SSJ4 Gogeta from Dragon Ball GT.
Cabba may be able to beat Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, but he's not beating Orange Piccolo. Orange Piccolo was able to hold off Cell Max, a villain so powerful, Piccolo claimed not even Goku or Vegeta could beat him. Orange Piccolo could flick Cabba away with a single finger, humiliating Vegeta's only disciple.
Caulialf showed more potential than just about any other character in the Tournament of Power, quickly unlocking Super Saiyan Grade 3 and Super Saiyan 2 just by sparring with Goku. Goku sincerely believes that Caulifla could unlock Super Saiyan 3 soon enough. She's also tenacious enough where she could realistically brute force her way into unlocking God forms, just like Vegeta did.
