For a couple of weeks now, an individual or organization known only as “Cyberleek” has been gradually leaking tidbits of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, including alleged gameplay footage, little snippets of new UI and control elements, and quick peeks at story beats and important characters.
It’s still anyone’s guess whether any of this is the real McCoy or a very elaborate hoax, but the mere effort of it has Take-Two Interactive’s hackles up something fierce, and considering Cyberleek’s efforts to market crypto in the midst of it all, no one’s quite sure who to root for. In the midst of all of this uncertainty, not only are Cyberleek’s alleged leaks getting more and more bold, but so too are their demands from the gaming public in order to receive them.
Cyberleek has begun directly asking onlookers which chunk of Grand Theft Auto 6 they’d like to see next, setting up a poll with options including a different strip club locale from the one they previously showed or a nudist gathering. The latter was eventually voted upon, and sure enough, Cyberleek released footage of a bunch of naked folks partying it up, including a naked woman throwing down with the game’s protagonist, Jason. As many of the alleged leaked clips have been of Jason, onlookers have begun requesting footage of the game’s second protagonist, Lucia, but it seems Cyberleek isn’t going to let everyone have such vital footage for free.
According to a Forbes article posted today, Cyberleek responded directly to individuals requesting footage of Lucia’s story beats, specifically from the game’s prologue. As the leaks so far have been consciously avoiding major story spoilers, offering up anything like that would paint a pretty big target on Cyberleek’s proverbial back, which is why this individual/entity has decided the gaming public must prove its dedication to the leaker’s efforts.
In response to the request, Cyberleek wrote, “CL cannot just make that decision so a poll is required. Plus, to show support, 10 gamers need to show up dressed as leeks in front of Take2/Rockstar offices holding game discs during working hours.”
In short, not only do onlookers once again need to vote on whether they want this footage of Lucia’s prologue, but whether people vote or not, nothing’s getting released until a flash mob of folks in leek costumes make a public nuisance of themselves outside Take-Two and Rockstar’s actual offices, presumably the one located in New York City. The statement doesn’t specify what they mean by “game discs,” but presumably, any kind of game disc would be fine, as it was publicly divulged a while back that there wouldn’t be any physical Grand Theft Auto 6 discs at launch.
