This is one that expires fairly early, and no quest markers are given to tell you where to go. The Monster in the Night is a side quest that opens up in Part 1, Chapter 5 and requires you to defeat "The Phantom". It rewards 1,500 gold and 100 Renown. The game does not give you a quest marker, but the quest information hints at how to complete it.
The monster roams the streets of Dagsion at night. You will need to come back to town, or pass time, until nighttime before you can complete the quest.
The final option is the easiest since you can choose how many turns you use up. Each turn is 6 hours, so do auto-activities until the time shows 0:00 with the moon symbol next to it.
You can find and defeat the Phantom at nighttime, but it can take a while if you aimlessly wander the city. Now is the time to open the map.
You can't fast travel to the required location, but look for a blank quest marker with no star in the middle of it. I found it to the east of the Divination Booth in that square-shaped portion on the map. In case it differs per night and person, just keep an eye out for the previously mentioned quest marker.
