Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet developer Naughty Dog confirmed on social media that a key cinematic shoot has just finished production. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is an upcoming PS5 exclusive that started development following the 2020 launch of The Last of Us Part 2.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is said to share a different side to Naughty Dog's storytelling. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will tell the story of bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun as she becomes stranded on a dangerous planet called Sempira. Equipped with weapons such a gun and a laser sword, Jordan must use her skills to become the first person to escape Sempira's orbit in 600 years. No further details about Intergalactic's storyline have been revealed as of this writing.
Though Naughty Dog has kept a tight lid on the ongoing development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the studio took to social media to share an important milestone. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet wrapped up a cinematic shoot that featured Tati Gabrielle, who plays protagonist Jordan A. Mun, holding a prop gun while wearing a motion capture suit. Naughty Dog's post included the famous line "See you, space cowboy..." from the iconic 90s anime Cowboy Bebop as a reference to Jordan being a space bounty hunter. However, Naughty Dog stopped short of sharing additional information about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Instead, the development team stated it would share more information at a later date, though it remains to be seen when that will be.
The post came amid a busy week for the PlayStation brand. Sony will host a new State of Play episode on Thursday, September 3, at 9:00 AM Eastern, followed immediately by State of Play Japan. The upcoming broadcast will feature Final Fantasy 7 Revelation as the closing segment, though details about what other games will be shown have not been shared by PlayStation. Although Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has not released a trailer since it's 2024 reveal at The Game Awards, there is a possibility that Naughty Dog's title could show up during any State of Play broadcast.
However, rumors indicated that the launch of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet may still be some time away. During a May 2026 podcast appearance, actor Kumail Nanjiani stated that a game he worked on would not be out for a couple of years. While he did not state which game he was working on during the podcast, Nanjiani was previously confirmed to voice Jordan A. Mun's former colleague Colin Graves in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Given that a release date for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has not yet been revealed, it is plausible that Naughty Dog's next project may not launch until 2028.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet joins God of War Laufey as part of Sony's upcoming slate of PS5 exclusive titles. Though the possibility exists for Santa Monica Studio and Naughty Dog to release games within the same year, time will tell when more information about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be shared with fans.
