Ubisoft is teasing the next Assassin's Creed remake, which, like Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced before it, is essentially the company's worst-kept secret. There are still a lot of unknowns, of course, even when setting aside the various Assassin's Creed rumors and leaks out there, but its identity has never really been one.
While it's still in its earliest days, Ubisoft's newest strategy for Assassin's Creed games does seem to be working. It seems like Ubisoft wants to rotate the type of games more, instead of just all open-world RPGs dominating its releases, and remakes (or "Resynced" games) are part of that strategy. Turning to what worked before is sometimes risky, but Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced speaks to the quality that Ubisoft's studios can bring to its older games.
Prior reports indicated that Ubisoft's next remake would be Assassin's Creed 1, expected to be called Assassin's Creed Resynced. And at least twice, if not more, Ubisoft has quietly updated and changed new details about the Steam Store page...forcing it to "resync" more than once. The latest change from Ubisoft is a small update to the page banner and logo art, as noted by several online Assassin's Creed communities, including AC Brotherhood Gaming. It's very important that everyone understands the pipeline and context of these teases, however.

In 2024, Ubisoft confirmed it was working on "multiple" Assassin's Creed remakes. The first of those was, of course, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The second has long been reported to be Assassin's Creed 1,and as recently as April 2026, it was understood to still be in the works. At the same time, there is another Assassin's Creed remake in the works too, set to come out after AC1. Even then, that does not mean these teasers will manifest in a reveal anytime soon. Instead, it's likely to be kept in a "vague tease here and there" state, like Black Flag Resynced was for the longest.
AC1 is the next remake. It might even be that it's the next Assassin's Creed game to release, as its pipeline could make it feasible around 2027. However, it's worth mentioning that Assassin's Creed Hexe is also still believed to release in 2027, and it feels unlikely that fans get both (though maybe not impossible). Ubisoft also teased Assassin's Creed Hexe's Witch Hunt Germany setting in Black Flag Resynced, meaning its teasers are even in a more advanced and complete stage than this. Similarly, it could also be a coincidence to prepare for Assassin's Creed's anniversary in 2027, but it doesn't seem likely that Ubisoft will show up empty-handed for AC1.
However it shakes out, there's what comes next year and what's available now. As I wrote in my review of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, "At its best, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced firmly establishes the formula for new remakes in the franchise, if not what all new Assassin's Creed games in 2026 and beyond should feel like." And hopefully, AC1 Resynced continues to be an evolution of that formula.
