Rockstar Games has admitted that they are “nervous” about delivering for Grand Theft Auto fans with GTA 6.
After a week of leaks from Cyberleek, which allowed Grand Theft Auto fans a look at some of the new features in GTA 6, Rockstar Games released their long-awaited extended look on Netflix.
In the almost 30-minute-long reveal, plenty of gameplay features, storyline details, and new looks at Vice City were shown off. This includes details on the fact that Jason and Lucia don’t have to be romantically involved during your playthrough, as well as how they get involved with certain characters.
Following up on the reveal, IGN released some of their chats with Rockstar developers, including how they’re well aware of the expectations surrounding the game.
Speaking to IGN about the pressure, Rockstar’s Rob Nelson said: “I try not to think about it. You’re aware of it, of course. But I think we just have to try and make something that we feel is innovating on what we’ve done previously, evolving it while still making it feel familiar.
“As much pressure as we feel externally, I don’t think it can compare to the pressure we put on ourselves as a team. Everyone wants things to be perfect. We are nervous! Nervous, of course, but also excited to see how people respond to this video and then ultimately the game.”
Rockstar has acknowledged the expectations before, including in the announcements about delays to GTA 6. They’ve used the phrase “deliver at the level players expect” before.
