AI is becoming more and more of a parasitic growth on gaming, and the quality of certain popular titles is suffering as a result. Be it through graphical attempts at forcing realism, mods with code created entirely from spat-out code, or titles that cut out artists to save a few pennies, AI is being used to cut corners and make the most money out of consumers at the same time.
Battlefield 6's newest set of cosmetics is under fire from players after seemingly being constructed at least partially by AI, with rather egregious mix-ups that no artist would make. In response, Arma Reforger threw shade directly at Battlefield 6, proudly proclaiming that no AI was used to create the outfits of their different classes, all of which are designed meticulously to feel authentic for the simulator.
It's no secret that gaming, like everything else, is slowly but surely rising in cost, even as studios attempt to force AI usage both in development and everyday life. Vibecoded mods have given AI some positive spin over the last few weeks, only for Battlefield to tank it back into the ground with the cosmetics revealed for the game's fifth season.
The most egregious examples come from two separate operator skins, hence the phrasing of the Arma tweet throwing shade. One cosmetic depicts a spec ops soldier with a whopping five sidearms strapped across his body, a comedic amount that could honestly be written off that way if it wasn't for the other cosmetics.

Costume number two seems to present a fictitious French security operator, with a big patch on their soldier that read 'secuty' instead of security. This is the exact kind of slip-up AI is known for, and was apparently totally missed in the actual cleanup process internally at DICE. Minor hiccups like this that no artist or designer would make are some of the only tell-tale signs of AI we have left, and the final example is rife with them.
Players pointed out a small weapon charm depicting a crowned skeleton with a rifle, rife with inconsistencies in both the design and the charm itself, issues no other charm in the game has. This hidden use of AI, without even telling players, sets a horrible trend, and other studios that care to put time into their games are taking the chance to flaunt their stuff to any dejected Battlefield players.
Arma is a series infamous for taking every stride it can to present military combat as organically and accurately as possible, allowing players to take on specific roles in war theaters across the globe, big and small. The franchise has cultivated a community proud of the time and effort it takes to get things right.
