Dragon Ball Super: Beerus has finally been listed by Fuji TV its October 11, 2026 premiere, but the series unfortunately brings some bad news with it: The anime remake will be much shorter than anybody anticipated. Following rumors that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus would end prematurely so the production staff could work on Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, Fuji TV has indeed confirmed the anime is not remaking anything past Goku VS Hit.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be a quick refresh of the series' first three arcs, before the anime presumably changes gears into Dragon Ball Super 2. Sadly, while Dragon Ball Super is finally coming back, it won't be long until the series goes back on its next hiatus. Hopefully by the time DBS: Beerus airs, Toyotarou's manga will be out of hiatus and the Black Frieza Saga will be able to tide fans over in the wait for Dragon Ball Super 2.
According to credible anime leaker Sugoi LITE, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus' listing only accounts for 19 episodes. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 1 will premiere on October 11, 2026, while the finale, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 19, will air on February 14, 2027. There are no Dragon Ball episodes scheduled past that date. The series' listing describes the anime remake as "an enhanced version of [the] original series."
Based on this breakdown, six episodes for Battle of Gods, six episodes for Resurrection F, and seven episodes for the Universe 6 Tournament seem reasonable. While 19 episodes is certainly an odd number, it's actually a little reassuring that the remake isn't arbitrarily keeping in filler just to hit a full season count. Even Dragon Ball Kai failed to remove all of DBZ's filler, so hopefully Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will indeed be more faithful to Toriyama's vision.
With Dragon Ball Super: Beerus expected to air its final episode on February 14, 2027, Fuji TV will need to free up the anime's time slot and replace it. Since Dragon Ball Super: Beerus took over One Piece's time slot, there's speculation that One Piece will simply take it back for its next cour in the spring. That said, One Piece isn't expected to come back until March or April, at the earliest, leaving at least two empty weeks in February.
Assuming One Piece returns at the start of April, that's six weeks worth of episodes Fuji TV needs to fill. It's entirely possible Toei could piecemeal the Moro Saga, releasing the start of the arc in a six-episode batch before One Piece comes back. The Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga is only 25 chapters in the manga, most of which can be adapted in a single episode (with fights potentially being adapted in less). Six episodes could easily bring the story up to Moro's wish, leaving the arc off on a chilling cliffhanger for a few months.
This would also ensure higher production quality for each episode, so as not to run into another Dragon Ball Super 1 situation. That said, this is all speculation. It's entirely possible Fuji TV will just burn random episodes of any series, or even reruns of One Piece in-between Dragon Ball Super: Beerus and OP. Worst case scenario, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol doesn't air until after One Piece wraps up its next season, but that at least gets us the Moro Saga in 2027.
