The Resonants are the dominant threats in Control Resonant and will cause a lot of deaths for players. These bosses are located in different zones and have a quest assigned to them that is separate from the main story quests. Fighting all the Resonants is not mandatory to complete the story, but you get to choose from a few Combat Abilities every time you defeat one, so they are definitely worth beating.
These Combat Abilities can be improved in the Talent Tree, making subsequent boss fights much easier. The guide below offers information on these bosses and the Combat Ability choices you get after defeating each.

The introductory Resonant, The Artist, makes its appearance in the prologue of the game when you are still trying to understand how the game works. Fighting this boss is necessary to progress in the story and can be quite difficult with its projectiles and explosive attacks.
Upon reaching the Field Office in the Central Zone, you can venture out north towards the Factory on your map to find some patterned pipes that Dylan will call in. Once you get the quest added to your Logs, head inside the Patterned Factory and continue to the boss.
The Resonant in West Incursion Zone is marked fairly early on, but reaching it requires you to have unlocked the Shift ability. Once you complete the Fault quest related to it, get back here and use the Shift Ability to get to the theatre where the boss can be found.
The Collective is found around the middle of the Park zone, but you will have to eat some tasty looking Mold in multiple locations inside the zone. Once you do that, you can go through the previously closed doorway. You will also need the Shift ability to access this boss fight.
The Resonant in Underpass is located near the Spire, and you will have to go through to the Astral Plane. Here, you will find multiple locked doors one after another, requiring Astral Keys that you need to find on the side paths. Once you open the third locked door, you can go up ahead to initiate the boss fight.
