WARDOGS is now officially out, and it’s already chasing after the “king of first-person shooters” title as it clocks in over 266,000 concurrent players. It’s only been literal minutes since launch as of writing, and the game is pretty much set to become one of the most popular and successful FPS titles in a long time.
The game, which I praised heavily during the closed beta, is now officially available to everyone at a $39.99 starting price. It’s not gunning for AAA status, nor is it catering to a particularly casual audience, but it is trying to strike the middle ground of every FPS ever made.
WARDOGS is a very strange game in that respect, sitting somewhere between Call of Duty, Battlefield, ARMA, Squad, PUBG, and others at the same time, offering players the same enjoyment they’d get from all of these games all in one place. It’s really amazing what the devs have managed to achieve here, and therein, I think, lies the explanation for its stellar launch.
Even during closed beta, WARDOGS approached these same figures and only stands to grow as time goes by. With several beta playtests, the numbers simply never shrank, proving to me that there is a lot of fun to be had in this high-octane action title.
