Ubisoft has released a brand-new interactive experience based on the Assassin's Creed: Mirage DLC, Valley of Memory, and it is already available to play for free across multiple platforms. Assassin's Creed: Mirage will mark the first anniversary of the Valley of Memory expansion in November 2026, but fans of the franchise can begin the celebration early with the new AlUla experience.
AlUla was the new explorable area introduced in the Valley of Memory expansion for AC: Mirage, based on the real-life location of the same name. Ubisoft's latest release now turns its focus to that very location, giving fans of the franchise a new reason to explore it, albeit outside the game itself.
Officially unveiled by Ubisoft on September 8, the Discovery Tour App: AlUla is an interactive experience featuring minigames inspired by Assassin's Creed: Mirage gameplay. The new freeware includes an exploration mode that is essentially "a gamified, mission-based journey that takes approximately 90 minutes to complete." The AlUla app is designed to share valuable information about the namesake location in Saudi Arabia, which may help players better understand the world of Assassin's Creed: Mirage.
The web-based version of Ubisoft's AlUla app requires no installation and can be played online.
The AlUla app also brings back a beloved Assassin's Creed: Mirage character, Roshan. She serves as the player's mentor throughout the interactive tour, offering tips and instructions much like she did while mentoring Basim in the original game's story. Another returning feature is Assassin's Creed's famous Eagle Vision, a practical mechanic that helps players discover hidden collectibles throughout the AlUla region.
Ubisoft's app also includes a built-in codex on AlUla's heritage, along with a timeline of its most notable historical events. Ubisoft says, "AlUla explores the past of this unique historical location, blending interactive gameplay and educational content: architecture, natural landmarks, and daily life." Both the app and the website also feature a Middle Eastern soundtrack that might help evoke the same feelings Assassin's Creed: Mirage tried to channel.
Assassin's Creed Mirage: AlUla is not the only freebie coming from Ubisoft in September 2026. The company recently made For Honor free to claim and keep through Ubisoft Connect for PC users. That offer ends on September 28, giving gamers plenty of time to add the AAA title to their collections at no cost. 2026 marks Ubisoft's 40th anniversary, which is part of the reason it has become more generous than usual. Whether Ubisoft will offer more freebies of this nature to its fans in the coming days remains to be seen. For now, they can either hop into For Honor for some action or download and play the Discovery Tour App: AlUla to revisit some of the memorable moments from Assassin's Creed: Mirage.
