State of Play September 2026 ended with an extended look at Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII Revelation, but it was a broadcast dominated by no-shows and fan calls for Destiny 3.
Highlights included an extended clip of Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie, the reveal of two new limited edition DualSense wireless controllers inspired by GTA 6, and the announcement of Crimson Desert DLC. We also got the surprise announcement of Maneater 2. Meanwhile, Until Dawn 2, Metro 2039, and Final Fantasy VII Revelation all got release dates.
But there was disappointment at the various PlayStation Studios no-shows. For example, Sony Santa Monica's God of War Laufey, due out in February, was nowhere to be seen. Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet failed to make an appearance. And what's going on with Media Molecule, Sony Bend, and Haven's Fairgame?
After State of Play ended, we rolled straight into State of Play Japan, where we got an extended look at Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. Konami revealed two new games, and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance got a deep dive.
