Geralt has agreed to help Crach an Craite's children, and first up is his daughter, Cerys, whose task to become worthy of Skellige's new ruler is to lift Jarl Udalryk's curse. If you want to lift Udalryk's curse and get the best ending in "Possession" for The Witcher 3, then you're going to need to know exactly what to do and which choices are the most vital to make, which we'll share in this guide so you can follow along!
This side quest becomes available after completing "The King is Dead - Long Live the King". With that main quest done, you can now head to Svorlag on Spikeroog to find and speak with Udalryk. However, the conversation doesn't exactly go anywhere, no matter what you say, and you'll instead have to head north up the hill to find Cerys at the jarl's old family home.
If you head to the beach before going to the house, you can find a man surrounded by Drowners, which, if killed, reward 400 XP. In dialogue, you can use Axii (Delusion 2) on the man to get an extra 35 XP.
Enter the house and follow the footprints to find Cerys unconscious in the hallway. This will lead to a cutscene outside, where she will explain her plan and the necessity of finding Udalryk's family sword, Brokvar.
When you are required to find the sword named Brokvar, head into the first room as you enter the house and pick up the Key to the Cellar found by the oven. You can use this key on the cellar door found in the north corner, to the right as you enter the house.
Inside the cellar, you'll find Brokvar on a table, but it's pretty dark, so bring a torch! You won't have to worry about any enemies here, so just pick up the sword and return to Cerys, where you can then head back to Jarl Udalryk in Svorlag to explain what's going on.
Regardless of your dialogue, you will need to head to the docks to get a boat and sail to where Aki fell from the ship. At this location, use your Witcher Senses to find Aki's bones by the wooden pole; interact with it to place teh Brokvar sword. Remember to use your Crossbow underwater to defeat the Sirens, then sail back to the Jarl.
Speak with Cerys privately to reveal that the Jarl is being attacked by a Hym, and the only way to get rid of it is either to trick it or kill it. Regardless of what you say, Cerys will want to trick the Hym, and this is also the safest option, which we'll explain below.
