Fans of The Legend of Zelda have a new Switch 2 adventure to watch in Uncanyon, a 2027 game built around exploration, elaborate puzzles, monsters, and reality-bending abilities. The Legend of Zelda has long blended exploration with environmental puzzle-solving and hidden discoveries, giving Uncanyon some immediately familiar ingredients despite being an entirely original adventure.
Uncanyon is being developed by Graceful Decay, the studio behind the perspective-bending puzzle game Maquette, with Annapurna Interactive handling publishing. Game Director Hanford Lemoore says the project grew from a simple question about what would happen if someone could enter an alternate reality without leaving the one they were already inhabiting. Graceful Decay has taken that idea and built an entire puzzle-first adventure around it, with the studio specifically looking to make traditional dungeon puzzles more elaborate than small obstacles separating other activities. To that end, temples and ruins instead contain traps, locks, and mechanical challenges designed to reward careful observation and experimentation.
In the game, players take control of Sonia, a stranger exploring a forgotten world created within the folds of converging alternate realities. Scattered around Uncanyon are devices powered by a mysterious substance called fragmentstone, which allows Sonia to change the reality occupying the surrounding space. Activating one can move obstacles, remove hazards, reveal previously inaccessible paths, or transform an entire room without transporting Sonia somewhere else. Players can even stop a transition partway through, creating environments that contain pieces of multiple realities at once. Graceful Decay says learning which version of an area to use and when will form the central puzzle language of Uncanyon.

Those reality-changing mechanics will not be limited to isolated puzzle rooms. Sonia will encounter monsters, traps, hidden areas, and other obstacles as she explores the world, with new tools and discoveries gradually expanding the solutions available to her. Graceful Decay says players will build a relatively small but versatile collection of abilities rather than accumulating tools that solve only one specific problem. That kind of exploration-heavy design gives Uncanyon a natural place among the growing library of adventure games on Nintendo Switch 2, particularly for players looking for something built around discovery rather than constant combat.
While Graceful Decay hasn't explicitly stated The Legend of Zelda as an inspiration, the similarities are readily apparent. Uncanyon appears interested in the same relationship between exploration and puzzle solving that has defined many The Legend of Zelda games, where gaining a new ability changes how players understand environments they have already visited. Graceful Decay is also putting considerable emphasis on secrets and carefully designed dungeons rather than simply using puzzles as interruptions between combat encounters. The reality system gives that familiar structure a distinctive twist, since players are effectively rebuilding parts of the environment themselves to create the solution they need.
Uncanyon is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Graceful Decay still has more to reveal about Sonia's story, the regions players will explore, and how Reality Fragments mechanics evolve as the adventure progresses. There is no specific release date yet, but a Switch 2 adventure built around mysterious ruins, dangerous creatures, hidden paths, and versatile puzzle-solving abilities already gives Legend of Zelda fans another 2027 game worth keeping an eye on.
