This week, Nintendo's GameCube celebrates 25 years since its release in Japan. To celebrate this anniversary, a chart of the system's software sales has been shared by Circana Retail Tracking Service.
This includes the "US top 20 best-selling GameCube games, ranked by unit sales". This information was shared on BlueSky via Circana's senior director and video game industry advisor, Mat Piscatella. In the top spot, we have Super Smash Bros. Melee, followed by Super Mario Sunshine in second place, and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in third.
Some Sonic titles also make an appearance, and adding to this are games such as Soul Calibur II, LEGO and Star Wars. Piscatella further notes how Capcom's Resident Evil 4 is #21 on the same list, but Kirby Air Ride apparently outsold it by 7,899 units during its lifetime. Here's the full rundown:

According to Nintendo's official video game sales page, the GameCube sold 21.74 million units during its lifetime, and game software for the system shifted 208.58 million units.
Nintendo's new system, the Switch 2, has already surpassed 23 million sales in its first year. Keep in mind a lot has changed in the video game landscape in 25 years. If you are wanting to relive this generation of Nintendo, Switch 2's 'Nintendo Classics' service includes the GameCube library. Most recently, it added Super Mario Sunshine.
