The protagonist of Solo Leveling, Sung Jinwoo, is one of the most popular anime characters all over the world. Solo Leveling began its run with a 12-episode TV season on January 7, 2024, and ran all the way up to March 31, 2024, in the winter anime season. Produced by Aniplex and Crunchyroll, this exciting action anime has gone on to establish a firm grip over fans all over the world. When Solo Leveling Season 2 returned in 2025, its reception was even better among the fans.
Unfortunately, since then, Sung Jinwoo and Solo Leveling have not given us much to get excited about, but on September 7, 2026, the staff at Studio A-1 Pictures revealed a new illustration of Sung Jinwoo, which could very well tie into the upcoming new movie, titled “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System.” This new illustration features Sung Jinwoo and showcases his growth from being a weak Hunter to the legendary fighter that he is today.
Shunsuke Nagashike is a key figure when it comes to the production of the Solo Leveling TV anime, and his love for the series is quite clear to see through the level of care that he gave to all the characters in this phenomenal series by Chugong. On September 7, 2026, a new illustration from Shunsuke Nagashike was unveiled to us, featuring none other than the protagonist of the series, Sung Jinwoo. The illustration featured Jinwoo in both his young form before he became a powerful Hunter and faced the statue of God in the Double Dungeon, and his current form, which sees him standing atop all other South Korean Hunters and among the strongest in the entire world.
This illustration was shared directly by Jinwoo's voice actor, Taito Ban. According to him, this illustration came directly from Shunsuke Nagashike. Taito Ban, who is working on the Beyond The System movie, believes that Solo Leveling is the most important work to him. He stated that Solo Leveling has made him feel uniquely happy, and he then went on to thank the director for this gift.
The exact reason why Taito Ban was gifted an illustration by Shunsuke Nagashike isn't clear, but it must be remembered that Solo Leveling: Beyond the System is currently in production. This movie is a direct sequel to Solo Leveling Season 2 and will continue to adapt the next arcs from the manhwa and the web novel.
This means that the Ahjin Guild arc and the Double Dungeon arc from the manhwa will be adapted in the movie next, and an exciting development for Sung Jinwoo is on the way. Taito Ban is going to be heavily involved in this movie, and perhaps work on it has already started, which could tie into this illustration. The exact release date for the movie remains unknown, but the entire cast for this movie should already be heavily at work. It is highly likely that, on the occasion of this Solo Leveling movie, this illustration was shared with Ban.
Given that production on Solo Leveling: Beyond the System has already begun, it is likely that the directors and other staff members who are heavily involved in the production of this movie will keep on revealing exciting illustrations to us one after another. So far, we have only received an illustration of Sung Jinwoo, which may or may not be connected to the movie. This is a good start because it shows that Solo Leveling is now on the revival after a nearly 2-year-long break. Fans of the series have waited long enough for it to make an official comeback. Right now, all eyes are on the upcoming Beyond the System movie, which is going to deliver action like never seen before.
