The Pokémon Company has announced that Champions League 2027, which was due to take place in Yokohama tomorrow, September 21, has been canceled.
“In light of the inclement weather and disruptions to public transportation caused by the approach of Typhoon No. 25, and with the safety of our customers and staff as our top priority, we regret to announce that the Champions League 2027 Yokohama scheduled for Monday, September 21, has been canceled,” the statement reads (translated by DeepL).
“To those who were scheduled to participate on the 21st, those who applied using priority entry rights: your priority entry rights will be carried over to the next Champions League 2027 Chiba,” the statement continues. “We will provide further details at a later date. Those who applied through the general lottery: we sincerely apologize, but we are unable to carry over your entry rights to the next event or provide individual compensation. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
Typhoon No. 25, also known as Dujuan, is approaching Japan and is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to parts of the country as it passes near the Kantō region. The storm has already forced the cancellation of several major events scheduled for September 21, including the final day of Tokyo Game Show 2026, Rock in Japan festival, and Peace Day 2026 at Yoyogi Park.

Champions League 2027 will continue on September 22, though The Pokémon Company warns that “start times and tournament formats are subject to change depending on early morning traffic conditions caused by the typhoon.” It asks participants to “prioritize safety by traveling and making decisions that do not put you at risk,” and says anyone who decides not to participate due to the typhoon will not be subject to a penalty.
The next Champions League 2027 event is scheduled to take place in Chiba on November 22 and 23. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that players who entered Yokohama using priority entry rights will have those rights carried over to Chiba, although it has not yet provided details on how that process will work.
Chiba is the second of five Champions League 2027 events currently scheduled in Japan, following Yokohama and ahead of Miyagi in February, Osaka in April, and Aichi in May.
