It's not very often that you hear of a game being delayed after it's gone "gold" — the term for a game that's essentially complete and ready to ship on disc — but Ubisoft has decided to do just that with Rayman Legends Retold.
This remake of Rayman Legends was supposed to release on October 1st, but Ubisoft says it requires "extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves". As a result, it'll now launch on December 3rd, 2026.
Here's the statement that was shared this afternoon:
"While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves."
Most of the reactions from fans have been positive to this, suggesting the developers should take as long as they need to put out a polished product, but a few people have shared their concerns about releasing so soon after GTA 6.
Is there a chance that potential buyers will be put off by Rayman because they're so hooked on the new Grand Theft Auto game? Maybe, although they're very different games and there's only a certain amount of audience crossover.
We'll have to wait and see what the sales are like, but we're definitely excited to check this one out in December regardless, and here's hoping it'll be worth the wait.
