GTA 6 is finally going to be released soon, and now Rockstar has decided to provide official support to one of the most popular servers in GTA Online, nopixel.
If you're unfamiliar with nopixel, it's not what you might think of when talking about GTA Online. It's a roleplay server, meaning it was modded and exists for the purpose of players existing in the virtual world as the character they created, building stories with other players.
Unfortunately, the support for GTA roleplay from Rockstar being timed more than a decade after GTA Online was released and right before GTA 6 is being released leaves players feeling like this is a sign that GTA 6 Online isn't going to be arriving anytime soon.
On top of that, we likely aren't going to see the PC version of GTA 6 anytime soon either, especially since Rockstar has said basically nothing about it so far. Because of this, Rockstar's support for nopixel feels like the company's way to give something to the online and PC players who are going to be waiting a while for any GTA 6 release.
Rockstar took to x (formerly Twitter) to say that the new version of nopixel, called nopixel V, is being created with official support from Rockstar. For now, no details on what that support looks like have been provided, as Rockstar instead said that there will be a kick-off that includes details coming on September 8. While the post includes a trailer for the new nopixel, there isn't a release date given for when nopixel V will go live.

Nopixel itself isn't new, and it's gone through quite a few variations without any official support from Rockstar. A number of well-known YouTubers and streamers have experienced the world of nopixel, and my personal favorites have been Markiplier (playing Stan the Water Man) and CallMeKevin (playing Grognak the Destroyer Attorney at Law). It's possible that this new version of nopixel will cause another surge in popularity for GTA Roleplay content, especially with GTA 6 being released soon.
