September 4 is Going to Be a Super Busy Day for PS5 Gamers

This week is set to be a busy one for PlayStation 5 gamers, with September 4 proving to be especially busy. The fall gaming rush is upon us, but this year looks a little different. Instead of the new games coming to PlayStation 5 and other platforms being spread out between September, October, and November, the majority of them are all launching this month.

The GTA 6 November 19 release date has seemingly convinced many game publishers to focus their releases in September, with this month proving to be the busiest of the entire year by far. Many of the big new games releasing in September are coming to PlayStation 5, with six dropping this week alone, and three of those six releasing on Friday, September 4 specifically.

On September 2, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault hits the PS5, while The Blood of Dawnwalker and Speedrunners 2: King of Speed are both coming on September 3. September 4, meanwhile, sees the launch of three games simultaneously, which is something that almost never happens. On September 4, PS5 gamers can look forward to playing Isle of Reveries, NBA 2K27, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

For those unfamiliar with the games, Isle of Reveries is very similar to Nintendo's Legend of Zelda franchise. More specifically, it takes its cues from the Game Boy classic Link's Awakening. NBA 2K27, meanwhile, is the latest entry in 2K's long-running basketball game franchise. The NBA 2K series has been criticized this past decade for its reliance on microtransactions, but it's still the most fully-featured basketball game on the market.

And finally, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the next game from Capcom, a publisher that has been on an incredible roll for years at this point. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is Capcom reviving a classic action-adventure franchise from the PS2 era with modern graphics and a revamped combat system. Onimusha: Way of the Sword reviews have been mostly positive, and so PS5 gamers will definitely want to make sure that it's on their radar.

September 4 is easily one of the busiest days of the entire year when it comes to new PS5 game releases, but there's even more for fans to look forward to later this month. PS5's September 2026 lineup is ridiculously stacked, with games like Halloween: The Game, Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall on the way, to just name a handful. The new games coming out soon represent a wide variety of genres, so all PS5 gamers should be able to find something relevant to their interests to play this month. And even if somehow there isn't something you want to play in September, there are plenty of big PS5 games on the way in October, November, and December as well.
