Alan Wake 2 is easily Remedy Entertainment's best game to date, and that's even taking into account the excellent Control Resonant. It's an absolute masterclass in horror and pacing, which is why it's very exciting to hear that the game's director, Kyle Rowley, has seemingly been working on a new game for almost two years.
First spotted by Wccftech, if you head on over to Rowley's LinkedIn, you'll see that his most recent project at Remedy Entertainment is an "unannounced game" that he's been co-directing since January 2025, which is almost two years ago. Rowley doesn't explain what this title is or who he's co-directing with, though I would presume it's Sam Lake again, given he didn't have a directing role in Control Resonant.
A co-directing duo of Sam Lake and Sam Rowley is enough to get me excited though, even if it isn't the Alan Wake 3 title that I'm sure many would expect the pair to make. That being said, it's worth noting that Rowley was working as a co-director on Alan Wake 2 for a whopping six years, which means we're probably not going to see what this mystery game is for quite some time.
We also know that Remedy is currently working on a remake of the first two Max Payne games. If I had to guess how Remedy is going to operate for the next half a decade, I would put good money on them getting Max Payne out of the door first, which will then put Remedy fans on until Rowley's close to finishing whatever it is that he's working on.
Whatever the case, the way that Control Resonant ended has me very excited about whatever Remedy does next, and I'm sure that Control Resonant will get some DLC in the meantime too. Control and Alan Wake 2 both got two expansions after release, so there's no reason why Control Resonant won't either, possibly with some sneaky links to whatever the next main title is going to be.
