Revenge of the Savage Planet developer Raccoon Logic has announced Breakaway Hockey League, a fast-paced four-versus-four hockey game coming to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A release date was not announced, but it will be developed openly alongside the community, beginning with frequent alpha and beta playtests shaped by player feedback and “rapid iteration.” It will eventually launch in Early Access.
“We grew up loving hockey, but when hockey games disappeared from PC, we missed the intensity, teamwork and skill of a great hockey game,” said game designer and Raccoon Logic head of marketing and community Hugo Agostinho in a press release. “We hope Breakaway Hockey League is the game players have been asking for over the last twenty years, and we’re incredibly proud to finally be building it at Raccoon Logic.”
Game director Steve Masters added, “Hockey has a unique blend of skill, speed and violence that naturally creates the kind of drama and spectacle that we feel makes a perfect competitive game. We’re aiming to keep the soul of hockey while adding the purity of modern competitive action games.”
Creative director Alex Hutchinson said, “Also, we’re celebrating five years as Raccoon Logic this month (and almost ten years if you count our initial incarnation as Typhoon Studios) so it’s time to celebrate! With that in mind we’re launching a merch store: celebrate your love of Journey to the Savage Planet, your fondness for our studio or your excitement for Breakaway Hockey League with a sweet real world object. It’ll feel like the before times! Fabulous!”
