Counter-Strike 2 players can now get their own pet chickens, with Valve quietly introducing the new feature in the latest update on September 22.
The surprise addition wasn’t actually mentioned in the patch notes, but rather discovered after players began receiving Chicken Eggs through their Weekly Drops, allowing them to hatch, raise, and interact with their own chickens.
There are also 35 different chicken skins to collect, giving players a new cosmetic collection to build alongside their existing CS2 inventories.
Players began discovering Chicken Eggs in their Weekly Drops following the September 22 update, with the new item taking up both available reward slots.
Once claimed, the egg appears alongside the player in the CS2 main menu, where it can be inspected.
The egg eventually hatches into a chick, which can grow into a fully developed chicken. Players can inspect their chicks up close and even pet them.
The update also introduces a “Hatchbook”, allowing players to drag and drop photos of their chickens to keep a record of their pets.
The selection includes different breeds and color variations, although it is not yet clear whether certain chickens are rarer than others or if players can influence which type they receive.
