HBO has released a new trailer for Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, the second teaser for the eight-episode season that will debut Christmas 2026 on HBO and available to stream on HBO Max.
The trailer shows highlights such as: first-year student Harry Potter (Dominic McLaughlin) wearing the Sorting Hat and being chosen for Gryffindor; the beginnings of the friendship between Harry, Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton), and Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout); a Quidditch match; Ron getting his acceptance letter to Hogwarts and a better look at the Weasley family; potions professor Severus Snape (Paapa Essiedu) being unimpressed with Harry; Harry using the Cloak of Invisibility; the Mirror of Erised; the Troll in the bathroom; and various moments featuring John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
There are also some quick shots of what appears to be a flashback to Harry’s parents Lily and James Potter running across a bridge, as well as what might be our first look at Lord Voldemort.

The cast of Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick and Sirine Saba as Pomona Sprout.
Additional cast includes Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Richard Durden as Cuthbert Binns, Louise Brealey as Rolanda Hooch, Bríd Brennan as Poppy Pomfrey, Leigh Gill as Griphook and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
Based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved books, the series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardine.
Season 2 of Harry Potter begins filming in the fall with Kit Harrington taking on the role of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Gilderoy Lockhart (replacing Nicholas Hoult).
