Last Sunday, we mentioned how World of Warcraft: Forever — the new game from Blizzard that's just released in beta form ahead of its November release — was adding native Xbox controller support, and although we haven't tried it for ourselves yet, it seems like this is now the best way to play World of Warcraft on an Xbox device!
Windows Central editor Jez Corden has been getting his hands on it over the past 24 hours, and he says the native Xbox controller support makes it feel "like a fever dream" to play WoW on the Ally X.
He also advises that it runs "great" on even the low power mode of the device:
We've mentioned before how "Retail" World of Warcraft can be played on console via NVIDIA GeForce Now, and obviously it already works on the Xbox Ally through mouse and keyboard (and some workaround controller add-ons), but native controller support clearly makes a huge difference on a system like this.
If you fancy giving it a go, the beta for World of Warcraft: Forever requires you to pay at least $59.99 if you want guaranteed access, or you can hit the "Beta Opt-In" button on the Blizzard website for a chance at getting selected for it.
Alternatively, the full game releases on November 4th, and we've already mentioned how we reckon it's going to end up on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S eventually as well - the controller support surely makes it a certainty!
