Microsoft will confirm another wave of job losses within its Xbox division, affecting "hundreds" of workers, imminently, it is being widely reported.
Via outlet The Information, it is claimed hundreds of employees will lose their jobs "this week", and in addition, "several" developers within Xbox Game Studios will be consolidated.
The source doesn't give away any other information, but reliable leaker NateTheHate2 expanded on the suggestion by calling it a "reorganisation" of Xbox's internal teams. They claim, for example, the Halo franchise will soon fall under Activision. They go on to say other Xbox developers will also move to Activision, and other studios will be consolidated under other teams.
Earlier this year, Xbox confirmed it would be cutting a total of 3,200 jobs across the division by the end of July 2027. 1,600 employees were cut at the time of that announcement, with another 1,600 to come. This latest round of job losses likely falls under that total.
During the initial round of cuts, four studios left the company to either return to independence (Double Fine, Compulsion Games) or were purchased by unknown parties (Undead Labs, Ninja Theory).
Dishonored and Deathloop developer Arkane was said to be in talks about its future, but since the news dropped in July, there haven't been any updates since.
