Future Trunks returned to his own timeline (kind of) at the end of Dragon Ball Super's Goku Black Saga, and hasn't been seen since – except in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, countless new video game releases, and merchandise. Future Trunks has been one of Dragon Ball's biggest and most popular characters since he debuted in DBZ. The mysterious youth cleaved Frieza in two, quickly establishing himself as one of the strongest and most iconic anime heroes ever.
2026 and 2027 are shaping up to be enormous years for the Dragon Ball franchise. The series is kicking into high-gear with the release of a new anime remake, a sequel to Dragon Ball Super, tons of new video games, and a rumored movie in the works – as well as the eventual return of the manga. Ahead of Dragon Ball Super's official comeback, Future Trunks has returned into the spotlight, sword in hand. The future's strongest Saiyan is back.
Tamashii Nations is home to some of the highest quality Dragon Ball figures on the market. We're still three years out from Dragon Ball Z's 40th anniversary, but Tamashii Nations is celebrating the anime's milestone early by releasing a line of new S.H.Figuarts modeled after the iconic shot of the Z-Fighters at the end of Dragon Ball Z Opening 1, "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" (or "Rock the Dragon" if you grew up watching DBZ on Toonami).
Future Trunks is the second in the line to be available for pre-order, following Cell Saga Gohan in a very underrepresented design, figure-wise. Vegeta is also being prepped for pre-order, but won't release until April 2027, one month after Future Trunks ships in March 2027. Gohan will release in November 2026. Z-Fighter figures for Goku, Yamcha, Krillin, Piccolo, Tien, and Chiaotzu have yet to be announced (though the latter two will almost certainly be bundled together).
The Z-Fighters can be posed on a display base, allowing Dragon Ball fans to perfectly recreate the ending scene. Future Trunks comes bundled with Display Base B, while Gohan has Display Base A. Vegeta does not come with a base of his own. Based on the composition of the cast, it seems likely that Piccolo will come with Display Base C in order to complete the full shot. Even though the likes of Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks already have countless S.H.Figuarts to choose from, these have proven to be extremely detailed releases so far, and a huge upgrade to previous models.
Z Fighter Trunks looks nothing short of phenomenal. The figure is based on a rarely used Future Trunks design, really seen only in the Dragon Ball Z opening and when Future Trunks kills Future Androids 17 and 18 at the end of the Cell Saga. Trunks' tank top is sporty and slick, making his already cool aesthetic pop even more. Z Fighter Trunks comes with two swappable hair pieces, one of which features Trunks' bangs swaying in the air, perfect for action shots.
Z Fighter Trunks also includes his sword, a sheath, four very expressive face parts (including a cheeky smirk and side eye), six hand parts to make up his signature Burning Attack, swappable thigh parts so you can put Trunks' hands in his pockets like in the intro, and – of course – the figure itself. Z Fighter Trunks' parts are also interachangeable with his most recent Super Saiyan release, allowing you to mix and match. Z Fighter Trunks will be available for pre-order soon, likely retailing at around $55, and will release next year in March 2027.
