As you complete various activities in Graveyard Keeper 2, you'll slowly deplete your energy. While this can be replenished by sleeping, sometimes you don't want to track back to your house just to sleep in the middle of the day. That's where having food items can come in handy. You can buy food and forage berries, but cooked or prepared food will replenish far more energy. In this guide, I'll explain how to cook food in Graveyard Keeper 2 to keep you working on autopsies and completing quests for longer before you need to sleep.
To make and cook food, you'll need to repair your oven and kitchen table in your house. These are on the left-hand side of your house when you walk through the door and can be interacted with, shown in the screenshot below.
To repair these, you'll need the following materials:
Pieces of Stone can be crafted at your Stonemason's Workbench from two stone and four wood wedges. Stone can be found by using your pickaxe on the boulders dotted around the world, while Wood Wedges can be crafted at a Chopping Spot with one Short Log. Short Logs can be found by cutting down a tree and then interacting with the leftover stump to dig it up. One Short Log gives 10 Wood Wedges.
The six Wooden Planks for the kitchen table can be crafted at the Woodworking Workbench 1 with six Boards. One Board gets you one Wooden Plank. Boards can be crafted at your Sawhorse with logs that you can gather by chopping down trees. You'll also need these materials to make pottery for the twins.
Once you've repaired the oven and kitchen table, you're then able to craft and cook food. The kitchen table is where you can prepare cold dishes and meats/ fish before they go in the oven, whereas the oven is obviously where you can cook hot meals and raw meats/ fish.
The oven requires Fuel to use and is part of every food recipe that you can make with it. Fuel is made by building the firewood shed and placing Firewood in it, crafted at the chopping spot with Short Logs. One Short Log will get you 10 Firewood.
More recipes can be unlocked by purchasing them from vendors or getting them from NPCs as rewards for completing quests. For example, you'll get the Baked Fish and other fish-related recipes for bringing fish to Herm, the merchant in the village.
