The Evercade Nexus takes the handheld cartridge-based platform to new heights by way of a larger screen and 3D-focused controls. Not only has Blaze upgraded its portable console to better cater to games from generations beyond the arcade era, but it also gives native ports like the Banjo-Kazooie double pack a solid home. There is room for the platform to grow, though, and while using the same base hardware as the 2020 original in the name of backwards compatibility is a plus, some of its lingering operating system quirks may drive some players towards emulation-based alternatives.
Larger, more vibrant 5.98 IPS screen than the EXP
Still compatible with every Evercade cartridge
Wireless EverSync local multiplayer support
Includes excellent native ports of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie
Lacks sleep mode (suspend and resume)
Access to global settings depends on the game
