Developer Playground Games has just issued a statement reiterating that Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PlayStation 5 by the end of 2026. This confirmation from Playground Games follows a string of recent rumors claiming that Forza Horizon 6's PS5 version could be delayed into next year.
During the January 2026 Xbox Developer Direct, developer Playground Games confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 would be launching on Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 19, 2026, with eager players being able to hop in four days early if they purchased the game's Ultimate Edition. For an unspecified reason, Forza Horizon 6's PS5 port was said to be coming later in the year. Forza Horizon 6 made its May launch dates on Xbox and PC, earning an impressive Top Critic Average of 91 on OpenCritic upon its debut. Now, almost four months after launch, Forza Horizon 6 has just received its fifth major post-launch update, but the whereabouts of its PS5 port are more uncertain than ever.
On September 7, Playground Games updated the official Forza website, publishing an article detailing all of the new content included in Forza Horizon 6's new British Automotive update. While the new Drift Attack mode, four new cars, and the new Festival Playlist and Car Pass are all key highlights of the post, PlayStation 5 owners will find the most useful information towards the end of the article.

Right at the end of the latest Forza news post, in the section titled "Japan Awaits!", Playground Games makes an official statement regarding the launch of Forza Horizon 6's PlayStation 5 port. The statement reads, "Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year," and reminds would-be players that they can wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store to be eventually notified of its availability.

On August 27, The Verge's Tom Warren replied to a post on Twitter theorizing that developer Playground Games had quietly delayed Forza Horizon 6's PS5 port to 2027, given how late in the year we are, how stacked the next few months are for high-profile game releases, and the lack of any official announcement from the developer or Xbox itself. Warren simply stated, "I’m not expecting to see Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 in 2026." In its write-up of Warren's claim that Forza Horizon 6 is being delayed out of 2026, IGN corroborated the rumor, stating, "IGN also understands this to be accurate."
