Arguably the entire point of the Grand Theft Auto series is that the player can steal nearly any vehicle and go joyriding in a realistic city sandbox. Despite this, the developers have included taxi services in the series, acting as a form of fast travel, where players can pay to instantly move to part of the map. There's also usually cab driver missions, for people who want to live the pretense of being a law-abiding citizen.

It seems Lucia either worked for the service or has abused it in some way, as her account is suspended at the start of the game.
Fans have been speculating about RydeMe's existence since Rockstar's big Grand Theft Auto 6 information blowout in September 2025. They discovered information on the game's official website, listing a "RydeMe App", and the first theory was that it was going to be an Uber parody.

Chances are, RydeMe will function pretty much the same as the cabs did in the old Grand Theft Auto titles, just with more of a focus on the app.
There's also a strong chance that RydeMe will have its own associated missions, with players picking up and dropping off pedestrians, some with their own storylines. Most people never bother with the cab levels, preferring to cause carnage or play as a gangster, but they're a great way to drive around the amazing settings in the Grand Theft Auto games without the fear of getting into trouble with the law.
