Nintendo has announced a new "Customer Appreciation Sale" starting September 12 in the United States, with 30% off Switch games, DLC, accessories, and more. Nintendo is renowned for very rarely having sales on its first-party games or accessories, so this sale could be a great way for fans to expand their collection. The company comes from two back-to-back Nintendo Direct showcases, with the former dedicated to The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary, and the latter to the brand's own games and accessories.
Nintendo's Zelda Direct confirmed not only the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, but also a new Zelda-themed controller, new amiibo figures, and an official LEGO set for Link and Epona. There will also be a special Nintendo Switch 2 bundle coming later this year dedicated to Zelda's 40th anniversary, and the live-action movie inspired by the series will be released in April of next year. Nintendo also has other big projects in the oven, with leaks stating that there will be a new 3D Mario game next year, and Pokemon Winds and Waves will also make their debut in 2027.
Starting September 12 at 9 pm PT and through September 26 at 8:59 pm PT, Nintendo will hold a special "Customer Appreciation Sale" that was "made possible in part by tariff-related refunds," according to the official website. Nintendo states that it absorbed most of the tariff-related costs, but the refunds helped make this promotion and others like it possible. The website states that both digital and physical games, as well as gaming bundles, DLC, accessories, amiibo products, and apparel will be discounted. However, the website did not provide a list of discounted products, though it does say dozens of Nintendo games, accessories, and more will be included in this promotion. In July, Nintendo released a statement about tariff refunds, saying it wouldn't pass all the proceedings on to customers.

In February 2026, the US' Supreme Court ruled against Trump's tariffs that made consoles pricier in the country, deeming them unconstitutional. Nintendo received around $300 million in refunds from the tariffs and was later sued in a class action because of it, as fans wanted to be compensated for the increased costs of Nintendo products. Now, Nintendo's Customer Appreciation Sale is indeed a way to compensate fans for the tariff refunds, just not exactly the way they wanted or expected. Still, depending on the final list of products that will be up for discount, this may be a blessing in disguise for some and lead to more savings than money one would have gotten back.
