GTA 6 Leak Saga Comes to Unceremonious End as Cryptocoin Collapses

GTA 6 Leak Saga Comes to Unceremonious End as Cryptocoin Collapses

Leaks are an almost unavoidable part of the AAA gaming industry, with the chance of leaks only increasing the bigger the release is. Grand Theft Auto 6 has had an absolute saga of leaks over its development, each put out by a different individual eager to turn the fame of exposing gameplay early into something more.

We mark the end of maybe the most convoluted leak saga in recent years. As reported by Paul Tassi for Forbes, Cyberleek, infamous for releasing nude footage of both GTA 6 protagonists before adding a roadmap to his cryptocoin, suddenly made a post giving up on the venture entirely after fans crashed the coin. A surprise end to a truly baffling series of releases, showing just how quickly 'fame' can backfire.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily one of the most anticipated game releases of all time, with fans devouring any chance of extra info they can find no matter the source. After all, Netflix doesn't advertise trailer drops on their service for just anyone, and truly massive development and desire for news has opened a few cracks in Rockstar's pipeline.

We've seen a few of these leakers come and go already, each enjoying their time in the sun before either losing community favor or running out of footage to unveil. Most recently, Cyberleek has been the name to follow, coming on to the scene decrying Take-Two's anti-consumer practices as the motivation for his leaking.

Armed with a fully playable build complete with story missions, Cyberleek didn't open with footage of a mission or a high wanted-level police chase; instead, he opened with both GTA 6 protagonists buck naked, showing off every angle before vanishing as quickly as he came. Soon after, he returned, offering up more footage via a roadmap on his cryptocoin, with new footage drops coinciding with new peaks for the coin itself.

A sudden end to a truly baffling series of releases, showing just how quickly 'fame' can backfire.

This, clearly, made his "pro-consumer" shtick a bit harder to fully believe, even after he released massive text posts denying any kind of greed on his end. In response, players completely tanked the coin, crashing it far below its initial peak when the leaks had begun. Since then, Cyberleek has pulled out of the leaking game, not before declaring he has a 'dead-man's switch' of sorts, primed to release story spoilers for GTA 6 if he's ever caught by Take-Two.

Attempting to cover his tracks from both players' criticisms and Take-Two's legal team, Cyberleek's possession of a seemingly finished copy of GTA 6 is truly baffling. Rockstar has had a terrible time with leaks over the last few months, responding by releasing more footage themselves to totally overpower these leakers to some really impressive effect.
