Cosmic Disease is a special status effect in Mortal Shell 2 that is countered by the Seedbearer’s Scripture item, the rarest Permanent Pickup item in the game that you can only get by donating the Depleted, Faded, and Thawed Glands to the Skeleton in the Forgotten Tower during Night Mode.
However, the game does not tell players which enemy in the game inflicts Cosmic Disease, leading to a lot of confusion about when to use the Seedbearer’s Scripture item. Here’s how this works.
Cosmic Disease is a status effect exclusively inflicted by Zmey, the Unbidden, the final dragon boss of Mortal Shell 2, that makes you lose your Shell instantly. During this boss fight, Zmey has a fire breath move that he can use in multiple ways. This move does not deal direct damage. Instead, it inflicts the Cosmic Disease status effect.
The way it works is simple. If you are burned by Zmey’s cursed fire, a bar will appear on-screen showing your Cosmic Disease meter. If the bar fills up, one of two things will happen depending on your character's current state:
The Sword your Harbinger uses when affected by Cosmic Disease has its own unique moveset, different from all other weapons in Mortal Shell 2.
